About Lynne

Lynne CosbyFor ten years, I have written and managed print and web publications for clients in higher education, church agencies, non-profit organizations and the general business world. I also edit novels and textbooks, conduct phone-based marketing and am available to facilitate workshops.

I’d be especially interested in hearing from you about your communication needs. Regardless of your project, my goal is to help you express yourself clearly and effectively.

Mean what you say. Say what you mean.
I trace my editing aspirations back to fourth grade and my teacher’s habit of having her students exchange and grade each other’s quizzes and worksheets. I dearly loved making marks on my classmates’ papers! By my high school years, I wanted to become a writer and was sure, when I won the senior award for creative writing, that I was well on my way.

After graduating from college with an English degree, an appreciation for good literature and a love for grammar, I spent eight years in secretarial support jobs, correcting or writing correspondence for others. During this time, I began to edit research papers for undergraduate and graduate students.

After a ten year work hiatus spent reading mountains of children’s books to my two young sons, I began to explore avenues for combining my interest in producing and editing the written word with my interest in people. Our family’s move to Pennsylvania in 1997 provided the impetus I needed to shift away from working in bank marketing and college public relations and toward the realm of freelance writing and editing for clients with varied backgrounds and communication needs.

“This I Believe: Death is a Family Affair”—An mp3 of my personal essay on death as a positive life experience. The essay aired on WITF/FM, NPR’s affiliate in Harrisburg, PA. The text appears in NPR’s “This I Believe” database. or listen to the mp3.
